Hair Removal Does It Get Better Than Tweezers and Wax?

There are several accepted methods of hair removal but many women return to two trusted, tried and true methods when it comes to facial hair - tweezing and wax. The reason? Probably one of the biggest reasons is a fear of doing some major damage to the face, but there are some other considerations as well. Whether you've tried other methods of hair removal or not, the fact remains that tweezing and waxing have some real advantages.

One of those advantages is that the removal is not permanent. While that may seem like a contradiction, there are actually times when it's a good thing that hair will grow back. Consider the plucking of the eyebrows. While your eyebrows may be bushy and it may very well be a constant battle to stay on top of the situation, you at least have the opportunity to reshape every few months. If you use one of the more permanent methods of hair removal, a misshapen eyebrow may mock you every time you look in the mirror for months. You can also more easily experiment with shaping, deciding what looks best for your face.

Another advantage is that there are no chemicals involved with tweezing and little fear of a chemical reaction with waxing. The person who waxes or tweezes the eyebrows will have a swollen area that is red for a few hours, but there's little or no danger that you'll have a reaction to some chemical in the solution you're using that will leave you with hives, sores or some other reaction.

Finally, a major advantage for some people is the cost of waxing and tweezing. A pair of quality tweezers cost only a few dollars and will last for years. Waxing is slightly more expensive but is typically less expensive than many methods of hair removal, especially when talking about the more permanent hair removal methods.

In the end, it's up to your discretion whether to use one of these very traditional methods of hair removal or to try one of the newer methods on the market. Consider the alternatives before you make your decision.

The Truth About Hair Loss

It is normal to shed hair every day and the truth is we loose between 100-125 hairs on any given day. Hair that is shed falls out at the end of growth cycle. At any given time 10% of our hair is in what is called a "resting phase" and after 2-3 months resting, hair falls out and new hair grows in its place. Some people, however, experience more hair loss than is normal.

As we get older, both men and women experience some hair loss. It's a normal part of the aging process. Called Androgenetic Alopecia, it accounts for 95% of all hair loss. Androgentic Alopecia often runs in families and affects some people more than others. In men it is often referred to as Male Pattern Baldness. It is characterized by a receding hair line and baldness on the top of head. Women, on the other hand, don't go entirely bald even if their hair loss is severe. Instead, hair loss is spread out evenly over their entire scalp.

Hormones play the dominant role when talking about Androgenetic Alopecia. Simple put, both men and women produce testosterone. Testosterone can be converted to dihydrotestosterone (DHT) with the aid of the enzyme 5-alpha-reductase. DHT shrinks hair follicles causing the membranes in the scalp to thicken, become inelastic and restrict blood flow. This causes the hair follicles to atrophy. As a result, when a hair does fall out, it is not replaced.

Needless to say, men produce more testosterone than women and experience more hair loss.

While Androgenetic Alopecia is the number one reason why individuals experience hair loss, it is not the only one. Medical conditions such as hypothyroidism, ringworm and fungal infections can cause hair loss. Certain medications such as blood thinners, gout medication, birth control pills and too much vitamin A can cause sudden or abnormal hair loss as can following a crash diet, sudden hormonal changes, chemotherapy and radiation.

Emotional stress, pregnancy, or surgery can also cause our hair to fall out and is usually not noticed until 3-4 months after the stressful event has taken place. Stress can cause a slowing of new hair growth because a larger number of hair follicles enter into the resting phase and no new hair growth is experienced.

Another way in which individuals experience hair loss is due to mechanical stressors on the hair and scalp. Wearing pigtails, cornrows or tight rollers that end up pull on the hair can scar the scalp and cause permanent hair loss. Hair products such as hot oil treatments and chemicals used for permanents can cause inflammation to the hair follicles which can also result in scarring and hair loss.

Note: Hair loss may be the early warning sign of a more serious disorder such as lupus or diabetes, so it is important to talk to your doctor.

Recommendations For Wellness

If you are taking prescription medications, talk to your doctor and find out if your medication is contributing to your hair loss.

Avoid mega-doses of vitamin A. Too much vitamin A can cause your hair to fall out.

Exercise, do yoga, meditate or find some other practice that will help to reduce your anxiety and stress levels.

If you are a women, have your female hormones tested. If they are imbalanced, talk to your health care provider about bio-identical hormone replacements.

If you wear pigtails, cornrows, use a curling iron, hair dryer or hot rollers, try changing your hair style to one that puts less pressure and stress on your hair and scalp.

If hot oil treatments or chemicals such as those used in permanents are causing inflammation to the scalp, discontinue their use, or reduce the number of times you are using them.

Use gentle shampoos and conditioners to avoid any unnecessary damage to your hair.

In men, herbs such as saw palmetto and licorice root help block the formation of DHT. The same holds true for supplementation with zinc. As an added benefit, studies show that these supplements can also help prevent prostate enlargement.

Massage your scalp with rosemary oil in an olive oil base. Both rosemary oil and massaging the scalp can stimulate the circulation in the scalp and promote hair growth.

Again, if you are experiencing hair loss, check with your doctor to ensure that a more serious disorder isn't the cause.

Hair Loss and Its Effects

There is nothing about hair loss that is okay. In fact, there is nothing about it that is good. Of course there are many types of hair loss and the reasons for it number even more. What effect will hair loss have on you? Will it alter you own self image? Will it simply be a stepping stone in the course of your life?

Hair loss happens for a reason. You need to determine what the reason for your hair loss actually is. This may include a trip to the doctor's office. Hair loss can be the result of chemical changes within the body. It can be caused by drug interactions within your body as well. Chemotherapy, radiation, and even pregnancy can trigger hair loss. Before you can determine what has caused your hair loss, you will need to see a doctor. First of all, consider what things have changed within you life. Have you started or changed medication? Have you undergone testing? Even consider how you take care of your hair. Has anything changed in your life pattern? Of course, there is always the chance that your hair loss is just hereditary in nature and is not a sign that something more is wrong. You can not determine this though, and for this reason alone, you should ask your doctor about your hair loss.

Hair loss can negatively affect you. You can worry that your image will change or that people will see you differently. You can feel that you are aging and aging itself can cause slight depression. Hair loss in general can be a large change that happens in your life. After you have talked to your doctor about the cause of the hair loss, you should consider how you feel about it as well. It may be simply excepting this new change in your life. Regardless, hair loss is something that should not be avoided. You need to find out why it is happening and deal with how it will change you physically and emotionally. Hair loss treatments are usually divided into two groups: natural hair loss treatments and all the other hair loss remedies. Hair Replacement Procedures.

In our society, terms like “hair transplant,” and “scalp reduction,” are praised by doctors and advertisements, but they leave consumers befuddled. Yes, everyone knows these are surgical hair replacement procedures to attempt to reverse hair loss. But how do they work? How are these surgeries performed?

Treatments vary. Some surgical procedures may take place in a surgeons office. Others may occur in a outpatient surgical center or a hospital. Just in case you feel alone, here are some questions that have been posed by many men just like yourself: Is it going to hurt? Will I be asleep through the procedure?

To answer these questions, we’ll be blunt. All types of surgery are uncomfortable. Some men experience extreme sensitivity and tenderness to their scalp, others experience minor discomfort. There isn’t one specific side-effect that all men experience. Results vary from patient to patient. Fortunately, these procedures are usually performed with a local anesthesia as well as sedation. Patients rarely feel anything while the surgery is taking place.

Different Types of Surgical Procedures

 Hair Transplants
This procedure is broken down into sessions to achieve final results. Patients generally seem satisfied with the outcome of these procedures, although there is a healing process which can take months between each session. Results do vary for men and women, and it may take up to two years to achieve a full and natural looking head of hair.

Tissue Expansion
After the surgeon makes an incision, a tissue expander (balloon-like device) is inserted beneath the scalp beside a bald patch. Over the course of several weeks, the tissue expander inflates; causing the skin to expand and promote the growth of skin cells. Once the skin has stretched enough, a surgeon will perform an additional procedure to relocate the expanded skin to cover the bald patch.

• Scalp Reduction
This technique is designed specifically for patients who require coverage at the top and back of their heads. Men who experience baldness and thinning to the front hairline will not benefit from this procedure.

Final Results

Unfortunately, results are rarely final and these treatments are very costly. As well, they may require a surgical touch-up procedure. This may take place once the incisions have healed. A surgeon may decide to fill a hairline or thinning patch by using grafts.

Is Hair Loss Shampoo Any Good For Me?

There are many shampoos on the market that are advertised as hair loss shampoo. If you notice that you hair is thinning, you may wonder if this is what you should be using to help stop any further hairloss. The advertisements that accompany most hair loss shampoo products cite clinical experiments to prove that they do actually work. However, as the old saying goes "the proof of the pudding is in the eating", you really have to try them yourself to see if they do work.

Some of the shampoos, advertised as hair loss shampoos and hair growth shampoos, claim to contain active ingredients that block DHT production. This is a hormone that the body produces that results in follicles ceasing to produce new hair growth. Hair rejuvenation formulae in these hair loss shampoo are expected to stop any hair loss within a week. You can order these products online and receive a three-month supply. Many people claim that they do actually work, but you do have to keep using them. Once you stop, the hairloss starts again.

One type of hair growth shampoo, claims that it will actually help your hair start to grow back by as much as 45%. This hair loss shampoo is rich in amino acids and botanicals, which are important for a healthy scalp. It is good for any type of hair, whether it is thinning or perfectly healthy. It is ideal for helping hair that has been damaged by hair dyes and curling irons by restoring it to its original shine.

One thing to remember about all types of hair loss shampoo and hair growth shampoo is that taking care of your hair is as important as taking care of your health. Often the two go hand in hand. You should wash your hair and try to avoid chemicals that could damage your hair and scalp. Regular massage of the scalp will also help to keep the hair follicles and the pores of the scalp free from clogging. Proper nutrition and getting right amount of sleep are also factors involved in hair loss. If you start to experience hairloss while taking medication or while you are under severe stress, the hair loss will more than likely reverse itself when the conditions are resolved. While most people grumble about having a bad hair day, people with thinning hair or bald spots wish they could say the same thing. Hair loss shampoos may help.

Hair loss shampoo, certainly worth a try to see if it helps you, but it certainly doesn't work for everybody.

Find Out The Latest Methods Of Hair Loss Prevention

Since baldness is hereditary, many people think that there are no methods of hair loss prevention available for them. According to geneticists, a male whose maternal grandfather was bald will more than likely carry the gene for hairloss as well. However, modern day science has developed ways of reversing the hair loss process, opening doors for many men and women to regain their full head of hair. The first and foremost method of hair loss prevention is to take care of your hair. The over use of hair dyes, curling irons and hair dryers is one of the leading causes of hair loss in both men and women.

New hair loss news will tell you that you should never color your hair more often than 6 to 8 weeks and for hair loss prevention, letting your hair turn naturally gray is the best thing you can do. Many women stretch the hair by braiding very tightly and this can lead to significant hairloss as well. Eating the right foods is something else you can do for hair loss prevention. Having enough calcium in your diet is very important to strengthen the hair follicles and roots in the scalp. Illnesses and taking antibiotics often causes hair loss, so keeping yourself in good physical condition enables you to counteract the effect that these have on your hair.

However, there are many new treatments that can help. New treatments such as Proscar and Rogaine have been getting a lot of attention in the news regarding hair loss. You have to get a prescription from the doctor for both of these and neither one of them are recommended for women. However, it is unlikely that either one of these will work for total baldness. They are generally successful in cases where some hair is left on the back and the sides of the head.

New hair loss news about hair transplants and hairloss prevention regale the results of this treatment with men, The results are not as promising for women and many women who have not been able to find a suitable hairloss prevention method turn to wigs they can style so that they look perfectly natural. If you are starting to lose your hair and there is no medical reason, don't despair. You don't have to start worrying about putting sunscreen on your head because there are solutions out there.

Prevent Hair Fall and Dandruff the Natural Way.

Hair loss and dandruff are one of the most irritating disorders that can even make a person depressed at times.

There is a huge market for hair disorders such as hair fall, dandruff, alopecia etc. Companies are making a quick buck and exploiting in the name of herbal remedies. Many of these remedies are not purely herbal and may contain some herb as a component with inorganic and harmful chemicals as the prime component. Such products give only temporary relief, for example, anti-dandruff shampoos widely marketed, give relief only for a day or even lesser period.Ofcourse, there are genuine products in the market and the companies need not be pointed out for it is not their fault alone, but also of consumers who wants a quick remedy! Application of such temporary remedies and easily accessible products is not the right solution for the hair disorders, the solution lies in the age old systems of traditional medicine.

Such traditional medicine with modern science and technology can throw some effective long term and easy to use remedies. While I don't remember at this point of time any such ready to use natural remedy manufactured by companies, I am suggesting some time tested age old traditional or natural methods for containing hair fall and dandruff. Though some of the methods are cumbersome or the ingredients not readily accessible, this is the only way and natural way for preventing as well as curing the irritating disorders.

The ripened fruits of Soap nut, botanically called Sapindus emarginatus, are soaked in hot water for 10-15 minutes and then crushed with hand in the same water to get the extract. The extract can be daily used beneficially with no side effects as a shampoo. It gives rich lather and can be compared in lathering property to synthetic lathering agents generally found in manufactured shampoos.

Another time tested natural shampoo, is the thoroughly ground powder of Blackgram, which should be made into a viscid paste with which the hair is washed and the scalp massaged. This is a good soap for the body also. For starters, the paste when applied, may be rough as compared to the soap, but a beautiful soap with all goodness.

Both the above, Soap nut juice and Black Gram powder are natural shampoos, with no loss of natural oil from the body and in addition are anti dandruff.

Prior to head bath the following applications are useful

Prior to shampooing or head bath, the scalp is thoroughly massaged with a combination made of crushed fenugreek seeds and sour curd. Leave for 15-20 minutes and wash with the shampoos suggested above.

People who do not like to apply oil in day times may apply oil like pure coconut oil before going to bed and then shampoo the natural way in the morning. This restores the lost oil from the scalp.

Another remedy widely used in India and known as a c-vitamin rich fruit all over the world, Powder of Indian Gooseberry is an excellent rejuvenator for the hair. It brings lustier, prevents or contains dandruff and helps strengthen the roots.

There are several such remedies, but access to the raw materials or genuine products is a problem in addition to the time consuming preparations. At least choose a product that has less of synthetic components and more of naturals. Never go for a shampoo full of chemicals, just because it gives tons of lather!

Homemade Hair Dressing to Naturally Grow Your Hair.

There's plenty you can do to hang on to what hair you have and encourage healthy regrowth without spending an arm and a leg for it. You can start by taking a look in your very own kitchen. If you are suffering from hair loss or baldness, apply a paste of hot olive oil, 1 tablespoon of honey, and 1 teaspoon of cinnamon powder to the scalp before shampooing your hair. Let it sit for 15 minutes and then shampoo. A heat cap may be applied for deeper penetration. Even 5 minutes proved to be effective.

Below are a few simple tips to follow to slow or reverse hair loss from the inside and out:

Air-dry your hair
Avoid drying vigorously with a towel. If you must use a blow-dryer, keep it on a low setting

Style when dry
Grooming wet hair can cause it to stretch and break so don't comb or brush your hair until it's dry.

Switch shampoos with the season
Change your brand of shampoo at the beginning of every new season--summer, winter, spring and fall to prevent some shedding.

Don't tease
Even women who aren't losing their hair should avoid teasing or back-combing. It is one of the worst things that you can do to your hair. Teasing breaks the hair and contributes to the appearance of hair loss.

Perm and color carefully
When perming and coloring your hair, follow product nstructions carefully. Neither perms nor color causes hair to fall out, but both, when done incorrectly, do cause hair to break. When the break is very close to the scalp, it can make you look as though hair has fallen out.

Get adequate protein
Eat a couple of 3 to 4 ounce servings of fish, chicken or other lean sources of protein every day, even if you're dieting. Protein is needed by every cell in your body, including the cells that make the hair. Without adequate protein, the cells in your body don't work efficiently and can't make new hair to replace old hair that's been shed.

Maintain iron levels
Since iron-deficiency anemia can also cause hair loss, make sure that you eat a well-balanced diet that includes a daily serving or two of iron-rich foods. Good sources of iron include lean red meat, steamed clams, cream of wheat, dried fruit, soybeans, tofu and broccoli.

Take vitamin B6
100 milligrams a day decreases hair-shedding in some people. Larger amounts can be toxic, especially over a prolonged time. If you prefer a hair, nail, & skin supplement, select a product which include nutrients such as beta-carotene, vitamin C and vitamin E, which protect skin, hair, and nails from free radicals. Beta-Carotene is converted in the body to Vitamin A, an essential vitamin for maintaining the health of skin and hair. Vitamin C, Zinc, and L-Cysteine support the integrity of hair, skin and nails.

Consistenly implement these simple changes for several months and see what kind of results you get. A thorough medical exam, better diet, stress management, and medical treatment may easily spured regrowth.

Getting to the Root of the Problem.

It's fair to say when you started losing your hair you asked "why me". Maybe after seeing your dad and older brother join the hair less community you figured it was only a matter of time. You begin to shed more than your dog. How do you handle it?

You can never really prepare for it?until now.

Today the market is flooded with products that promise to regrow hair. But the truth of the matter is they don't all work. Hair loss products such as shampoos cleanse away the sebum produced by the sebaceous glands. The sebum builds up on the scalp and hardens, clogging the hair follicles there by inhibiting growth. That's all well and good but it doesn't get to the root of the problem. The hair stops growing because the hair follicle is undernourished, not dirty. We all know the main culprit is DHT. That doesn't stand for disastrous hair thinning. It's Dihydrotestosterone., which basically interrupts the normal functioning of healthy hair growth.

Products such as Rogaine, Procerin and Avacor have shown results with individuals whose hair is still in a growth phase or what's clinically referred as the anagen stage. The telogen stage is the resting or dormant phase. It's the one where you start losing your hair. The longer you're in this stage the lower the chances of getting your hair to grow back.

Most hair growth treatments will state that best results come from the beginning stage of hair loss. So if you're at the horseshoe stage your odds are slim that the product will work.

There is one product that works even if you've been balding for over 20 years. It's called RK19?. It's a blend of high potency vitamins combined with an anti-inflammatory. RK19? shields the hair root from your body's DHT and prevents DHT inflammation from happening at the hair root. Inflammation at the root is what cuts off the follicle's nutrients. Without the proper nutrients the follicle cannot continue to grow. Once your follicles begin to get the right nutrients it will begin to grow again.

If your tried eveything without success, dont lose hope. RK19? has worked. It's worked for our customers. And it will work for you.

4 Easy Ways to Build a Blog

By: Jinger Jarrett

A blog is an important communication tool for business. You can use your blog to distribute information to your potential customers, as well as build a relationship.

So how do you build a blog?

There are several ways that you can do it, but it all depends on how much time you want to spend on configuring your blog, as well as the types of customizations you want to do to your blog.

Below are several places where you can either get a blog, or get the scripts to build your blog.

Blogger - http://www.blogger.com - This is by far the easiest of all the blogs to build. It takes about 30 seconds to create a blog, and you don't need to know HTML. If you decide that you want to customize your blog, it does have an extensive knowledge base, and you can quickly learn how to add to the template to make it your own. It's also very search engine friendly.

Word Press - http://www.wordpress.org - Word Press is one of the most popular blog scripts on the internet. It has tons of features, and it's search engine friendly. Some of the most popular blogs on the internet use this system for blogging. Some examples of features include plugins that allow you to create an mp3 player on your site so that you can use for podcasting. Other features include: technorati tags, photos, sitemaps, and an extensive collection of templates so that you can use to change the look and feel of your blog.

The code is light and fast, and it is search engine friendly.

Nucleus CMS - http://www.nucleuscms.org - This is the system that I use for my main blog. It has a few features that Word Press doesn't have, like the ability to create an ezine from your posts and send them as email. You can use a cron job to automate the process, and you can send out your ezine when you want it to go out. This is especially helpful if you want to build a list of subscribers.

It's allowed me to combine two tasks: blogging and ezine creation.

There's an extensive collection of plugins you can use to customize your blog, as well as a theme system. The only drawback here is the lack of themes. However, new themes are being designed, and it's pretty easy to design your own, or customize one of the theme available.

Code is search engine friendly, and you can use plugins to create a Google Sitemap, add keywords, as well as technorati tags. You can also create multiple blogs from one installation.

Drupal - http://www.drupal.org - This is really a content management system, instead of a blogging system, and instead of just creating a blog, you can create a community of blogs, or a complete community, including forums, group meetings, and more. The code is very search engine friendly.

There is a rich text editor so that you can code your posts.

Regardless of what system you choose to create your blog, choose a system that you feel comfortable with. You can quickly and easily use blogs to build relationships with your customers, as well as distribute your content. By building and writing a blog, you can demonstrate your expertise on your topic, while building relationships with your customers and readers too.

Ultimately, blogging can become one of the best tools you can use to market yourself and your business, and it's free to implement.

Everything You Wanted To Know About Laser Hair Removal.

Laser hair removal is the best available method for hair removal because of the several advantages offered by this method. Laser hair removal method scores over other methods of hair removal for its ease of use, less time-consuming, little or no side effects and a long lasting treatment for removing unwanted hair from the face and the rest of the body.

A scientist who accidentally exposed his arm to 692 diode pumped YAG for a few seconds discovered laser hair removal treatment in late 1970's. The exposure burned off the hair but did not damage the skin. After few weeks, the scientist noticed a bald patch on his arm. Further research and development resulted in the birth of a revolutionary new method to get rid off unwanted hair. Since then, Laser Hair removal has become popular with both men and women of all age.

Advantages of Laser Hair Removal

The relief from the age-old hair removal methods like plucking, waxing, shaving is temporary. In the new hair removal method of electrolysis, each hair is treated separately. This makes the process time consuming and restricted to small areas. The inconvenience faced in the old methods has made the Laser Hair Removal the most popular hair removal technique. Most of the cosmetologists prefer laser hair removal to other methods of hair removal. Here are some advantages of Laser Hair Removal:

1. Ease of Use - Laser treatment uses the principle of light energy absorbed by dark matter such as hair. An experienced laser technician directs and fires a laser beam at the area of hair growth thereby burning off the unwanted hair. Laser hair removal method is not painful like waxing. Users have compared it to a tingling sensation like a small pinch.

2. Less time - Unlike electrolysis that is painful and takes a lot of time, laser hair removal is faster. With laser hair removal process, facial hair can be removed in about 45 minutes. Larger body parts take a longer time.

3. Few side effects - Unlike waxing or hair removing creams, laser hair removal treatment does not cause skin irritation or any other side effects.

4. Long Lasting - Laser hair removal treatment is long lasting than waxing, shaving or hair removal creams which have to be repeated every few weeks.

The wavelength required by laser to achieve efficient treatment is in the range of 670 to 890 nanometers. The treatment includes wearing protective eyewear. Usually, more than a single treatment is required since hair is best removed when it is in the active growth phase.

Permanent Hair Removal - A Growing Problem.

The nature of hair is to grow. That's why laser clinics and other so called "permanent" hair removal methods cannot and will not guarantee permanent hair removal results. Once you better understand hair and the hair growth cycle you'll know why claims of permanent hair removal are like claims of permanent weight loss: dubious. Without continued vigilance, hair, like weight, will come back.

There are three key factors to understanding hair and hair growth: types of hair, the hair growth cycle, and follicle activation.

Most people have three types of hair: vellus, intermediate and terminal.

* Vellus: Small, colorless hairs often referred to as peach fuzz.

* Intermediate: Thin, shortish hairs between vellus and terminal (hence the name) typically exhibiting some lower level of pigmentation.

*Terminal: Fully pigmented or gray, deep-rooted, coarse hairs. These are the hairs most consumers want removed.

All hairs, regardless of type, have a three-stage growth cycle. The first phase is anagen or the active growing phase. Depending on the body area somewhere between 10% and 90% of hairs are actively growing. The second phase is catagen, a transitional phase that is the shortest of the three phases. The third and final phase is telogen, the inactive phase. This is the longest phase and lasts until the hair is shed and the cycle repeats itself. This phase can last up to a year.

The final point to consider is follicle activation. Our skin is covered with thousands and thousands of follicles. Many follicles are like volcanoes: dormant but not extinct. Even though these follicles aren't currently producing hair they can be activated at any time. The primary catalysts are hormones. If you have any experience with teenagers, pregnancy or just getting older (did your husband get back hair for his 45th birthday?) you know exactly what I'm talking about. And as sure as some people want to get rid of hair, others want it to grow again and seek products to stimulate follicles (see Rogaine). In short, you can't keep a good follicle down so new hairs are likely to grow even after a "permanent" hair removal procedure.

Consumers have a reasonable expectation that the word permanent, when used in conjunction with hair removal, actually means existing perpetually. However, as we've shown, the nature of hair is to grow. Therefore, the so called permanent hair removal industry is seeking to redefine the word "permanent."

It's fair to say that permanent hair removal is achieved when a particular hair follicle is rendered impotent or incapable of generating new hair. But, because follicles are so numerous, hair is likely to emerge from nearby follicles. So, even if "permanent" hair removal is achieved (i.e. a follicle destroyed), the area that was treated is still likely to produce new hairs.

This fact has given rise to lesser claims of "permanent hair reduction." The United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) describes "permanent hair reduction" as, "The long-term, stable reduction in the number of hairs regrowing after a treatment regime." It goes on to state, "Permanent hair reduction does not imply the elimination of all hairs in the treatment area." This is when the whole conversation begins to sound like a politician reading "Alice In Wonderland."

So just what is permanent about "permanent hair removal?" The answer to this question gets more elusive when you consider that a significant percentage of consumers don't respond to either electrolysis or laser hair removal. Things become grayer still when regrowth rates for laser-treated follicles are estimated at somewhere between 20% and 80%, and 10-50% for electrolysis.

The bottom line is that hair grows. That's just what it does. While laser hair removal treatments and electrolysis can effectively destroy active follicles, calling either method permanent is like pulling a few dandelions and declaring your lawn free of weeds forever.

When you factor in the cost, the pain, the potential for scarring and other real health risks associated with so called "permanent" hair removal techniques, you might want to reconsider a temporary hair removal method that has been around for centuries: waxing.

Waxing isn't permanent. But it works.

Laser Hair Removal

There are many different techniques to remove unwanted hair. Some of these include waxing, shaving, coils, electrolysis and laser. Although each has its advantages and disadvantages, they all perform the same function. That is removing unwanted hair.

One such technique that has become quite popular these days is laser hair removal. This technique works by using a laser on the hair at a specified wavelength that emits a specialized light. The light from the laser is passed through the skin and is absorbed by the hair follicle. This light actually targets the melanin (colour) in the hair follicle and damages it, thereby causing the hair to fall out. Interestingly, the use of certain laser for removing hair has been approved by The Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Although the technique is popular, there are advantages and disadvantages of using this method.

Advantages of Laser Hair Removal

The laser hair removal process has advantages in that larger areas can be treated. In addition it is also safe enough to be used on all parts of the body such as the face, back, underarm, bikini line, legs and arms. Compared to electrolysis, it is less painful as the laser only causes a slight burning sensation compared to the needle prick feeling of electrolysis. Unlike shaving or waxing, laser hair removal is usually long lasting.

Disadvantages of Laser Hair Removal

One disadvantage for laser hair removal is that not everyone is the perfect candidate for this type of treatment. Those with lighter skin and dark hair have a much higher chance of permanent hair removal than grey, red or blonde hair. In addition, those with dark skin or who are tanned are also not good candidates as the laser may cause damage to their skin due to high pigment levels. The reason being is that dark hair contains a pigment called eumelanin which effectively absorbs more laser energy and therefore results in more effective destruction of the hair follicle. Due to the higher effectiveness of the treatment towards dark haired fair skin patients, it leads to fewer treatment and is therefore less costly. Other the other hand, grey, red and blonde hair contain a pigment called pheomelanin that absorbs less laser energy reducing the effectiveness of the treatment. Therefore extra treatment is required for the same effect. So before you sign up for this treatment, make sure you know the principal of this treatment. If you are not an ideal candidate, be prepared for extra treatment charges.

Laser hair removal is expensive due to the multiple treatments required. The reasons is that hair grows in a cycle that ranges from approximately 6 to 12 weeks and this is the amount of time that it takes hair to grow from the base of the follicle to the surface of the skin. As hair grows during these cycles, only a portion of the hair is being treated during this growth period with each laser treatment. Therefore multiple treatments (approximately four to eight depending upon your colour of your hair and skin) are required during this growth period. This is so that each treatment allows total coverage on all hairs during the various growth cycle. This can range from approximately a four to eight week interval. As discussed above, darked hair patients with fair skin require less treatment.

The average cost per treatment ranges from $500 and about four sessions are required. Again, this number will differ depending upon the size of the area treated and the colour of your skin and hair. To get an exact cost, a consultation on pricing is an individual process and it is best to discuss this with the laser center.

Once you have decided to undertake this treatment, make sure it is performed by an experienced laser treatment centre. Due to different state regulations, there has been varying level of compliance with laser hair removal centres and this has resulted in improper treatment by unskilled clinics. Some states require a doctor to perform the treatment, whilst for others; anyone including "unskilled" personnel can perform the treatment. Read the latest news on laser hair removal for more information. These improper unskilled clinic may result in burns (similar to sunburn), lesions, skin discolouration that can last several months, or patchy/patterned regrowth. One rule to remember is that cheaper is not always the best, so find the best laser hair removal centre around.

Womens Hair Loss ? What Should You Do?

Womens hair loss is almost as common as mens, and more common than many realise. And as her hair is a more important part of her look, womens hair loss can cause more severe psychological distress for women than for men.

For men, hair loss can be a normal, if unwanted, part of life. Many men just choose to live with it. But womens hair loss can be very distressing. Hair loss can be socially acceptable for men, even fashionable, but for women it is not.

There can be many reasons for womens hair loss. Some of them can be the same as for men. Certain diseases can cause hair loss, as well as certain medications, for example. These can be similar for men and women.

And then some womens hair loss can be caused by conditions specific to women. Menopause for example.

And women can suffer from inherited hair loss, just as men do. Female pattern baldness exists just as male pattern baldness does. Womens hair loss caused by inherited factors will usually take a slightly different form. Inherited womens hair loss tends to manifest itself in different ways and different places than for men.

Women usually maintain their hairline, and suffer from thinning hair, whereas men tend to lose their hairline and often all hair in certain places.

It is not generally understood in the community that womens hair loss is almost as common as mens. It is often less visible, and women can cover it up often so it is not noticed as often.

And womens hair loss can be the cause of more severe psychological reactions in women than men and so women can often benefit from some forms of counselling.

So if you are suffering from womens hair loss what do you do? It is vital to understand that you can only take the appropriate steps to attempt to control or reverse your hair loss once you know what is causing it. Visit your doctor and if necessary your doctor will refer you to a specialist.

Then you know why you are losing your hair. Only then can you make an informed decision on how to deal with womens hair loss as it affects you.

Different causes of womens hair loss are treated very differently. Many of the treatments available to women are the same as those available to men, some are different.

So, if you are suffering from womens hair loss do something about it now. Don't ignore it and worry. Visit your doctor and find out why, whether you need to do anything about it and if so what.

Diet, Nutrition and Hair Loss.

One key factor in maintaining a growing protein on a part of one's biological body is obvious: one must maintain a healthy diet. Although certain factors have been definitely identified as contributors to hair loss, we must keep in mind that hair is part of the complete biological system of the human body. Being a system, dysfunctions in one part of the system can contribute to dysfunctions in other parts; chain reactions occur when one part of the body malfunctions, causing other parts within the system to falter. To maintain optimum health, it is best to maintain a healthy diet and regular exercise regimen.

Defining exactly what a healthy diet is when it comes to preventing hair loss can be a little more complex. Principally, the main vitamins, minerals, and nutrients that one must ingest in some form to maintain healthy hair are vitamin A, all B vitamins-particularly vitamins B-6 and B-12, folic acid, biotin, vitamin C, vitamin E, copper, iron, zinc, iodine, protein of course, silica, essential fatty acids (EFA's, formerly known as vitamin F) and last but not least one must consume water. There are also certain foods that may cause dysfunctions that will contribute to hair loss.

The best way to maintain a healthy vitamin and mineral intake is a good diet. It is not necessary or advisable to go out and buy a bunch of over-the-counter vitamin supplements in order to achieve your suggested nutritional levels. Many over-the-counter vitamins are chemically processed and are not completely absorbed into the system. It is also easy to overdose oneself with over the counter vitamins particularly when taking supplements of fat-soluble vitamins and minerals, causing toxicity and adverse reactions. The likelihood of doing this is far less with food; therefore it is always best to obtain the bulk of your vitamin and mineral requirements from whole foods.

The Truth About Hair Loss.

The Truth About Hair Loss.

Male Pattern Baldness

On average, there are 90,000 to 150,000 hairs on the scalp. The hairs grow from roots called follicles. Blood vessels at the base of each follicle provide nourishment vital for hair and hair growth. Hair growth in each root occurs in a cycle independent of each other. At any time about 90 percent of the hairs on the scalp are in the growth phase, while the other 10 percent are in the resting phase. The growth phase can last an average of up to five years, after which the follicle goes into a resting phase, which can last upto four months. At the end of this phase, the hair falls out and is replaced by a new hair. This is all a perfectly normal part of the growth cycle. In fact, on a typical day, up to 150 hairs can be lost. Baldness occurs when hair is lost at an unusually high rate and hair replacement occurs at an unusually slow rate and/or when normal hairs are replaced by weaker, smaller ones.

What is Male Pattern Baldness?

Almost all cases of hair loss is the result of Male pattern baldness (or androgenetic alopecia).Male pattern baldness occurs much more frequently in men than in women.Even in mild cases It affects roughly 50 million men in the United States. Balding may begin at any age after puberty. While some types of hair loss is reversible, male pattern baldness tends to be permanent. It occurs in a very typical pattern on the scalp.Hair loss usually begins at the temples and at the top of the head toward the back, causing a receding hairline and a bald spot.Sometimes progressing further until the two sections become joined, leaving a horseshoe pattern on the sides and back of the head.Male pattern baldness progresses slowly and is not associated with any physical discomfort.

What causes male pattern baldness?

Male pattern baldness is thought to be a combination of hormonal and genetic factors.Testosterone and its more potent derivative dihydrotestosterone (DHT) are the contributimg factors of the degree of balddness. Whatever the exact causes of male pattern baldness may be, it is hereditary. A tendency toward baldness on either side of a man's family(mother or father) indicates The speed, pattern, and degree of the balding. Usually, the earlier it begins, the more severe the hair loss will be. Balding is not caused by wearing a hat,you cant regrow hair by Massaging or brushing,or excessive shampooing stimulate hair growth. These are thought to be false.Stress may contribute to a form of hair loss, but normal everyday stress does not contribute to balding

What are the treatment options for male pattern baldness?

-Herbal Shamppos

-Herbal Remedies

-Specialty Shampoos(for example Helsinki Formula)

-Wigs

-Transplants

-Medication(Propecia,Minoxidil etc)

-Home Remedies

-Others

Hair transplantation

In hair transplants, healthy live follicles are removed from a donor site on the scalp and transplanted to the balding area. The follicles are commonly taken in "plugs" of one hair to two hairs (micrografts) from the sides or back of the head and moved to the balding area, with the hairline being slowly reconstructed. Larger plugs may be used. Donor sites with full hair make transplants more successful. Some scarring may occur. Transplanted follicles are usually permanent. Synthetic hair has also been used for transplants but has been known for to have a high rate of infection and has been been banned. As with any surgical procedure, hair transplantation present certain risks. If you are considering a transplant, consult your doctor.

Wigs

A hairpiece can be custom made to cover a balding area. Hairpieces may fade and over time. It is important to clean the scalp under the hairpiece regularly.Another option is a weave, in which fake(synthetic) hair is sewn into existing hair.

This just a quick run down of what happens when most men reach a certain age. Here are a couple of sites that we have found that will educate and inform and give you everything you want to know about Male Pattern Baldness. The reviews are very positive and even might give you possible solutions to this problem that has afflicted almost every man for generations.

Natural Hair Loss Remedy Discovered in Apples.

The news spread like lightning across the Internet...

In Japanese clinical trials, a safe, natural polyphenol compound from apples was proven to promote new hair growth in men with male pattern baldness.

In the first double-blind clinical study, 29 balding men were treated with the apple procyanidin solution. After 6 months, researchers reported that both vellus and terminal hair growth were "significantly greater" than placebo control group subjects.

(Vellus hairs are short hairs, only a centimeter or two long. The follicles that produce them never produce any other kind of hairs. Terminal hairs are the long hairs that grow on the head.)

Increased Number of Terminal Hairs

The next study involved 21 men in various stages of hereditary hair loss. After 12 months of topical treatment, researchers reported that "71% of subjects showed an increased number of hairs." They also noted "a clear trend towards increased number of non-vellus hairs."

A "Potential Cure" for Male Pattern Baldness

After 12 months of study, the scientists concluded that "procyanidin therapy shows promise as a potential cure for male pattern baldness."

In a third study of 29 balding men, this time for 4 months, 78.9% showed an increased mean value of hair diameter. Increased ratio of thicker hairs was "significantly higher" than placebo controls and the increase in the number of total hairs was "significantly greater."

200% Better Than Minoxidil

Seven different published studies now confirm the profound hair-growth promoting effects of apple procyanidins. In tests on human hair cells, apple chemicals proved twice as effective as minoxidil to promote hair growth. The apple extracts were also clearly superior to less potent grape and grape seed extracts.

Procyanidins Activate Hair Follicle Growth

The richest known source of procyanidin B-2 is the skins of immature (baby) green apples. Polyphenols from apples have an astonishing range of health effects, and may be nature's perfect antioxidant. Many people taking apple procyanidins in pill form notice faster hair growth, stronger fingernails, and softer, smoother skin.

In every study, apple procyanidins have proven completely safe for humans and animals. There is no toxicity, no irritation, and no side effects. This natural hair loss remedy may be nature's best option for millions of people who suffer from thinning hair, falling hair, and male pattern baldness.
